Below is a detailed case study about a client of ours in the E-commerce space that got great results in only just a few months working with us.
Background
Despite being registered in late 2013, this website was receiving very little traffic. Even after investing a considerable amount of time and creating a sizable number of pages, the owner of the site was still receiving very little traffic.
SEO Audit
We always audit the site as our first step to determine whether there are any significant underlying problems.
This website never appeared on page 1 for the target keywords; it was not penalised. Additionally, there was no over-optimization; there were only a few links.
Keyword Research
When conducting keyword research, we always like to look for any hidden potential that a website may have that we can leverage to increase traffic quickly.
The number of keywords they rank for in the top 100 positions is shown in the graph below. They clearly have a lot of potential!
Easy Wins Analysis
We search for keywords that are ranked in Google, but not in the top positions where most of the traffic is, using our easy wins analysis. We can push them up and see faster traffic gains if we can find these.
We found 1001 easy-to-win keywords for this website, most of which rank on pages 2-3 with traffic ranging from 10 to 9,400 ms and cost-per-click (CPC) of roughly 50p to £6.
This was a very promising site, but it wasn’t receiving much love because it wasn’t ranking on page one.
Content Gap Analysis
We find competitor keywords with the content gap analysis that the website isn’t currently targeting, and this serves as the inspiration for our content development.
We discovered 103 keywords with volume for this site between 150 and 2900 ms, and PPC costs comparable to the easy wins.
Because we work WITH our clients to understand their business goals, we collaborated with them to identify high priorities and select a few keywords based on their knowledge of industry trends.
SEO Strategy & Execution
This is how our campaigns appeared:
Month 1:
- 1 guest post – Exact match on simple victories
- 1 guest post – Another easy win with another keyword.
- Brand, nude anchors, and partial matches make up Medium Diversity Links.
- One thousand word blog post with an informative KW focus that is based on market trends
Month 2: Almost the Same
- 1 Guest Post: Variation of the keyword “money”
- 1 Guest Post: Variation of the keyword “money”
- Medium Diversity Links: branded, nude, partially matched anchors
- One thousand word blog post with the keyword “money”
Month 3: Comparable but received a wider variety of anchor texts:
- One Guest Post with a Brand
- One Guest Post with a Brand
- Links with a Medium Diversity: Branded, URL, and Partial Match Mix
- Blog Content 1 x 1000 – High volume, content gap kw
SEO Results
We put a lot of effort into moving those quick wins to page one because there was already a good amount of content on this site.
The traffic exploded as soon as we were able to accomplish this:
Takeaways
This site has a tonne more potential, and this was only three months of work.
We plan to start linking a few high-volume keywords that we used in our content within the next three months. This website is primed to rule its niche!
